Topographical anatomy of limbs

Topographical anatomy of limbs

English version of our E-learning courses is aimed to foreign students of medicine. It turns their attention to topographical anatomy, which is more practical then systematic anatomy and is closer to perception of clinical medicine. The English version arises from the finished or planned Czech courses. Moreover, it has a task to integrate various foreign sources and to offer help to students situated in outland. This form of study material enables students to repeat the contents of classes after education or to prepare better for following classes in comfort of computer rooms. It can practice especially for dissecting classes and for final examination. Important feature of E-learning is a feedback aimed to both teachers and students. Preferring the individual feedback we want to avoid official evaluation anyway. 2 E-learning courses are under these links: Topographical anatomy of upper limb, Topographical anatomy of lower limb.

Mini-invasive treatment of stress urinary incontinence with tension free vaginal tape TVT-O

The insertion of a tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) under the urethra has become the golden standard in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women. Stress urinary incontinence represents serious medical and social problem. Surgical treatment of urethra hypermobility or hypotonia has become the optimal treatment option. Mini-invasive vaginal surgical approach is the most effective. This video shows vaginal urethropexis with tension free vaginal tape inserted to obturatory fossa by "inside-out" technique.

ABC of Informatics

ABC of Informatics

It becomes increasingly important for medical professionals to have an understanding of informatics and its background. The information systems and information technologies are widely used in today’s health care systems, and therefore it is necessary to support education in this area for both medical students and for physicians who graduated before informatics was applied in the field of medicine. The aims of Informatics should be oriented on improving knowledge about computers’ terms, methods and tools. The student should acquire the knowledge that allows them to reach the appropriate computer skills. These have to be sufficient to use Informatics elements in processing of given tasks and/or scientific works in an effective way.

DIOS - Dose Intensity as Oncology Standard

DIOS - Dose Intensity as Oncology Standard

The DIOS project was launched in 2006 with the primary objective to enhance the oncologists' awareness of the significance of dose intensity monitoring in anticancer chemotherapy. Another objective was to develop a fully electronic version of chemotherapy regimens which could complement the Principles of Cytostatic Therapy in Malignant Tumours, published by the Czech Oncological Society of CMA JEP. The advantages of the electronic version include easy updates, as well as the possibility of direct use for clinical practice and/or educational purposes. The electronic standards can also be used as templates for hospital information system databases.

Cardiac output measurement - Thermodilution

Interactive Flash animation demonstrating the principles of thermodilution measurement of cardiac output. (flash animation).  Measuring cardiac output is of paramount importance in the management of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit and of 'high risk' surgical patients in the operating room. Alternatives to thermodilution are now available and are gaining acceptance among practitioners who have been trained almost exclusively in the use of the pulmonary artery catheter.
