This ppt teaching file is an introduction to the study of radiology for students of medical faculty.
History of radiology, overview of different contemporary imaging methods, their physical principles and future trends of radiology are presented. The second part is dedicated to the static radiological methods of conventional radiography, to radiographic positioning /views/ and to the acquisition of analoque and digital image in radiology.
The presentation is followed by control questions (multi-choice test).

Radiology of bones – basic patterns

This presentation covers the principles of radiological skeletal examinations, the indications and the basic semeiological patterns in X-ray osteological imaging. Structural and morphological X-ray skeletal changes in current diseases of bones are treated and images of these affections are presented.

Practical exercises from Medical Biochemistry for students of Dental Medicine

The laboratory manuals are developed to the foreign students of medicine for practical laboratory exercise and verification of knowledge from medical biochemistry. Exercises are gathered into bigger groups by topics. Exercises are arranged into weeks, in summer term (ST) and winter term (WT), like it is in Syllabus of Lectures and practical exercises (ST, WT). Students can apply their manual skill in performing of the experiments, and also train their ability in evaluation of results.

A web based atlas of thousands of radiological images grouped into clinical cases with concise description of the case and the finding. Images are grouped according to topography, organ, and modality. A number of images have set a skill level to guide pregraduate students. Numerous keywords link to their respective cases. The atlas issues a Google gadget "Radiology case of the day", which displays every day a different imaging case on your desktop.

The Health of the Roma People in Central and Eastern Europe

The basic thesis of scientific monograph is in fact comprehensive review of basic knowledge about the health of Roma minority population in Central and Eastern Europe. The insertion of a tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) under the urethra has become the golden standard in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women. Cardiac Cycle

This teaching material consists of a text part (see below) and an animation. The text part contains the detailed description of the individual phases of the cardiac cycle. The animation shows the mechanical events in the heart during the cardiac cycle including the arterial pulse, electrocardiogram, heart sounds, venous pulse, pressure and volume changes in the right atrium and in the left ventricle.

Random access analyser (HITACHI 917)

The automatic biochemical analyser Hitachi 917 is a prototype of high-capacity selective analyser. It has a capacity of 800 photometric tests per hour and the possibility of selective choice out of a range of fifty biochemical tests. This involves spectrophotometric methods that utilise measurements of absorbance of the reaction mixture in a cuvette at various wavelengths. A part of the analyser is an ion-selective electrode module for the determination of sodium, potassium, and chlorides. The duration of the video is 17 min.

DVD Clinical Examination of the Psychiatric Patient represents a practical tool for Psychiatric Propedeutics course. The patient suffering from bipolar disorder has recently recovered from acute mania. Using a database one can store data about persons, goods, services etc. In contrast to spreadsheet programs the databases usually uses several separate and interconnected tables to minimize duplicate records. Topographical anatomy of limbs

English version of our E-learning courses is aimed to foreign students of medicine. It turns their attention to topographical anatomy, which is more practical then systematic anatomy and is closer to perception of clinical medicine. The English version arises from the finished or planned Czech courses. Moreover, it has a task to integrate various foreign sources and to offer help to students situated in outland. This form of study material enables students to repeat the contents of classes after education or to prepare better for following classes in comfort of computer rooms. It can practice especially for dissecting classes and for final examination. Important feature of E-learning is a feedback aimed to both teachers and students. Hypertext Atlas of Organ Pathology contains teaching materials for pre-graduate students. It is under construction and in full version so far available in Czech language only. The English version contains only chapters with images to enable image sharing (see bellow). The interface is similar to the Atlas of Dermatopathology. Many macroscopic and microscopic images are available, as well as images from CT and MRI scanners and endoscopes.

The tutorial film "Isolated heart perfused according to Lagendorff" presents the basic methodologies used in experimental cardiology, which involve isolated hearts perfused according to Langendorff. It covers up-to-date trends in experimental cardiology. The film may be used at medical faculties and related schools. This instructional material has been created under the support of the University Development Fund of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, project no. G3 1271/2008. This show is shortened version of 29-min movie.

Automatic urinalysis

An automated unit for chemical and microscopic examination of urine. This instruction video on automatic biochemical analysers was made in collaboration with the Dept. of Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology of the Faculty Hospital in Brno, the Dept. of Biochemistry, and the Data Processing Centre of the MU Fac. of Medicine in Brno. It is provided with a spoken commentary which, on the one hand, gives a static description of the individual components of the analyser and, on the other, accompanies individual demonstrations of its function. The video also contains a description and a demonstration of the functioning of the automated urine laboratory (automated unit for chemical and microscopic examination of urine iQ200).
